Cardinia Council’s WAR on Community

Dear CEO, Councillors and Council Officers

I would like to register a complaint about the constant ‘cleaning’ by Council of the bus shelter at the Emerald Community House. This shelter is a welcome colourful addition to the town and the community information that has been displayed there, untouched for years, until Council’s careless stripping, is a great example of community engagement. I would have thought Council would be supportive of such an initiative and be proudly supportive of one of the most dynamic community houses in the shire and state. I respectfully ask that you act to halt your ‘cleaning’ expeditions.

Furthermore, I request that Council abandon its plans to place an Adshell shelter at the bus stop. It is unnecessary as PTV pointed out in a meeting on Monday, the current bus stop is compliant, does not pose a health risk, can be easily adjusted to accommodate disabled needs and is adequate to cope with the current usage rates which are significantly lower than what Council told the community as part of its pitch. Aesthetically, the placement of two bus shelters, albeit one will be classified an arts installation, will look ridiculous and will only bring public ridicule of your decision making.

Please acknowledge receipt of this email.

 Sincerely

 Dale Blair
